Plemeno HIGHLAND (Skotský náhorní skot ), patří k původním nejstarším plemenům ve Skotsku. Díky konzervatismu tamnich chovatelů nebyla ovlivňována moderními šlechtitelskými postupy a zachovala si svůj charakteristicky vzhled. Charakteristika plemene Charakteristickým znakem plemene je dlouhá splývavá hustá srst umožňující bezproblémové přežití za vlhkých a chladných podmínek. Základní barevná varianta je hnědá, od žluté až po tmavě červenou. Méně četné je zbarvení černé, šedé, bílé , stříbrné a žíhané (brindle). Přípustné jsou bílé skvrny pouze na spodní straně břicha. Typickým znakem je též dlouhá splývající srst na hlavě, překrývající oči. Všechny varianty mají výrazně dlouhé rohy lyrovitého tvaru, rozpětí u býků dosahuje i 130 cm. Jedná se o plemeno robustní, malého tělesného rámce s krátkými končetinami. V plemenném standardu jsou upřednostněny exteriérové znaky před výkonnostními ukazateli.
